Pippa & Boo – books and toys

Work on early vocabulary and grammar with Pippa & Boo. Specially suitable for 0-3 year olds.

Their names are chosen so that they are easy to say for toddlers, and reading and playing with them is a fun way to help children acquire their first words and the use of short sentences.

One way of boosting early language development is using hand gestures/signs when reading and talking. In the books you’ll find line drawings of hand signs from ASL*/BSL* that you can use with your speech. Read more about signing with toddlers here or in the guildelines for adults at the back of each book.

The Pippa & Boo books are also full of onomatopiea, words like BANG and BOINK, which are easy for children to learn and use, and the stories are built on a lot of repetition, which enables the grown-up to work as a model for the child’s speech production. Four books are currently available in the series:

Pippa & Boo – in this first book Pippa is playing indoors and jumping on the sofa. But who’s that hiding underneath?

In Pippa & Boo at the Playground the friends go to the park! With signs and words for outdoor activities.

In Night-Night Pippa & Boo it’s nearly bedtime, but there’s still lots left to do. With words and signs for everyday routines.
